The Federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 contains a well hidden clause which states that in order to receive federal funding, schools are required to hand over students personal contact information to military recruiters.  There is one way you can prevent that.   By law, schools are to provide a method for students and parents to state that they do or do not want their private contact information to be given out.  The Fort Worth Independent School District has a release which is sent home with the beginning of school packets which contain forms for parents to sign.  This form is often overlooked, misunderstood, lost, and therefore not signed.  If you did not receive this form, contact the principal of your school to receive that form.  You can also download this form, complete it and take it to your principal.  The military is given students private contact information approximately 2-3 months from the beginning of school.
